The Turner barn project was successfully completed in May 2007.
Thanks to everyone in the Mad River Valley community and beyond who
helped assure that this farm will be here for generations to come!

Barn
Rebuilding Funds
We have
received a $5,000 CHALLENGE GRANT from the
Preservation Trust of Vermont. For every $2 we raise
for the barn rebuilding, the Preservation Trust of Vermont
will give us $1 up to $5,000 total. This means that if we raise $10,000 we will get
the full $5,000. Money donated to the
barn rebuilding fund or
to the St. Dunstan's
general fund that is designated by the Turners to go
toward the barn rebuilding, will count toward the $10,000 we
need to receive the challenge grant money.

From Paul Bruhn at
the Preservation Trust of Vermont
"We're really happy to be able to help the
community effort to rebuild the Turner Barn. As
I think I mentioned to you on the phone, the
historic Turner Barn was one of the barn
rehabilitation projects we supported several
years ago as part of a partnership we had with
the Freeman Foundation and the Vermont Land
Trust. Perhaps more importantly, our support
is recognition of the enormous outpouring of
community support in the Mad River Valley for
the Turner Barn."
Thank you to the
Preservation
Trust of Vermont! |

This
might seem a bit confusing, but several groups rose to
the task of raising money and we want everyone to know
all of the options for your donations.

General Fund Donations
St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church established a general fund that
was given directly to the Turner family to help with any
expenses they incur as a result of this loss including the barn
rebuilding, calf replacement, and vet bills. This fundraising
effort has been very successful - thank you to everyone who
donated through the St. Dunstan's fund! Over $5000 was
raised.

Barn
Rebuilding Fund It is estimated that the cost of
materials to rebuild the barn will be about $25,000. As of
March 20 we have raised over $28,000 between donations and
$10,000 from two challenge grants. The barn project is on
track to be completed by the end of March.
Preservation Trust Grant Met and
Funds Received!!!
We have achieved our first goal of $10,000 raised to
earn the Preservation Trust Grant of $5,000.
MRV
Community Fund $5,000 Challenge Grant Met and
Received!!!
We have raised an additional $8,100 through the Mad
River Valley Community fund to earn their $5,000
challenge grant. We believe that we have raised
sufficient funds to cover the costs of rebuilding the
barn. However, there are some organizations who
still wish to contribute or are collecting funds.
Please send these funds to the Mad River Valley
Community fund (make checks payable to the MRV Community
Fund and mark them for the Turner Barn) PO Box 353,
Waitsfield, VT 05673. Any funds that remain after
the building expenses have been paid will remain in the
MRV Community Fund to help support people in need in the
future.
