It's raspberry season here in the Mad River Valley! There are wild berries all over the place, as well as for sale at Hartshorn's Farmstand on Route 100 north of Waitsfield. You can pick your own berries at Blair Berry Farm in Rochester (about a 20 minute ride south on 100 from the Valley).  Call Blair Berry farm at 767-3989 for picking conditions and picking times.  Other places where you can find pick-your-own berries are listed at Pick-Your-Own.org and the Vermont Department of Agriculture also hosts a list of Farmstands and Pick-Your-Own farms organized by county.

Our next Localvores meeting will be held at Yestermorrow on Thursday, August 3rd at 6pm. We will be working on organizing sub-groups to reach out to a variety of stakeholders before the Challenge in September. These stakeholder groups include farmers, stores, schools, restaurants, and consumers. We will also talk about outreach and promotion for our upcoming events in August, which include a table at the Taste of the Valley (August 7) and at the book signing and talk by Jessica Prentice at the Round Barn (August 23).
