Local Stores that will have the Local Goods

While we do enthusiastically promote purchasing and eating local food, we do not promote any particular farmer or store over any others.  If we have missed something here, if you have any other suggestions for alternatives to the Thanksgiving meal above (especially vegetarian) we want to know about it!  If you have any information to add to this list, please call Robin McDermott at 496-3567 or e-mail her.

Turkey - Gaylord Farm (reserve in advance by calling 496-5054), Maple Wind Farm in Huntington offers pastured and organically certified turkey (434-7257), Misty Knoll Turkey is available at Mehuron's, and Sweet Pea, but you need to reserve your turkey soon.

Eggs - Mehuron's, Sweet Pea, Knoll Farm, Mountain Valley Farm and other local farms.

Flint Corn Meal - Sweet Pea

Apples - Hartshorn farm stand, Mehurons, Sweet Pea, Shaws

Whole Wheat Flour - Sweet Pea (tip from Carin at Sweet Pea...sift the flour before using to get a finer grain)

Sausage - Gaylord Farm, (vegetarian tip from Carin at Sweet Pea - use local tempeh that is available to Sweet Pea and season it well in place of pork sausage)

Butter - Vermont butter and cheese cultured butter is available at Mehuron's and Sweet Pea or make your own butter with cream from Butterworks Farm or Monument Dairy Farm (Mehuron's) or Strafford Organic Dairy (Sweet Pea)
